Aibileen Clark, one of the main characters in The Help, knew the importance of instilling worth and value into another human being. Particularly when that individual wasn’t getting it from mom and dad.
Words can build up and they can tear down. Too often it’s the latter that’s employed by a careless tongue, sending comments barreling toward its target like a wrecking ball.
We’ve all seen the wreckage, experienced it ourselves. The son whose father insists he will never amount to anything, the mother who tells her daughter she isn’t beautiful enough to catch a man’s eye, the teacher who calls a student, “stupid.”
Let your words bring change. Be an encourager, a builder, planting seeds in the lives of your children, your friends, your neighbor’s children, a stranger, your mother or father, even your enemy. It costs nothing and it will transform lives.
