Four Left Feet

blog four left feet image 2Our dog has grand delusions that he is a psychic canine. He thinks he knows where you are going when you take a step and prances in front of you, leading the way that you aren’t going.

It’s irritating really. No Fred Astaire, he alters his course when he realizes he misjudged your direction and ends up doing the four-step, cutting off your path and becomes a permanent obstacle while he backs his rear end in another direction.

God can probably relate to the annoyance. It’s something that I frequently find myself doing with Him. I start to move where I think He is taking me and end up ahead, leading when I should be following, impatience the curse that drives me. That makes me an obstacle to what God wants to do and the time wasted in having to backtrack, not to mention the time it takes to clean up the messes I make going the wrong way only serves to further delay what I was so eager to achieve in the first place.

The lesson? Wait. Wait on the Lord.

“And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.” Hebrews 6:15

I’ve often thought with my dog that she knows it’s not the destination that’s important, it’s the walking together part, the journey. Dogs are smart, aren’t they? Thanks for the post. ☺

A great analogy! We usually just think of our dog in a human voice, “You say ‘back’ but you really mean I should lead the way.” “Let’s go this way. Just kidding. Let’s go this way. Haha! I fooled you….” heeehee! We’ve, perhaps, watched UP one too many times!
