Mexican Rice Water (Agua de Horchata)

This creamy drink is the best and simple to make. The added cinnamon and vanilla remind me of chai only smoother and creamier.
Thank you Hannah for hooking me up with the recipe.

Posted by juliemomyer in Foodies on December 15, 2011
- 2 large egg whites
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 4 cups pecan halves (1 lb)
- 1/2 cup melted butter
Preheat oven to 325°F. Pour melted butter onto large rimmed baking sheet, tilting to spread evenly. Set aside.
Beat egg whites and salt with electric mixer just until foamy. Gradually add sugar and cinnamon until blended, careful not to overbeat. Mixture should be runny. Add pecans, stirring to coat. Spread pecans over prepared baking sheet in single layer. Bake until pecans are crisp and butter is absorbed, turning pecans with metal spatula every ten minutes.About 30 minutes.
Loosen pecans with spatula and cool on baking sheet until crisp. About 2 hours. Store in airtight container at room temperature.
