My aspiration in life is to be transformed into a prude. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to be one of those sour faced, crotchety old biddy types who shakes their heads, pooh-poohing everything as immoral…Isn’t that what flashes through your mind when you think of the word, prude? That’s what I used to imagine.
Being labeled a prude is hardly considered a compliment these days, but did you know that the word once meant, virtuous? And prudefemme meant a virtuous (worthy or respectable) woman? But then there were those who thought women could be a little too virtuous (probably some overly amorous males) and the definition was twisted to mean something negative. Read the rest of this entry »
