Mini-mercial for Wisdom

wisdom“Happy is the man who finds wisdom and the man who gains understanding; For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver and her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, and all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.” Proverbs 3:13-15

Think about that last line: “…all the things you may desire cannot compare with her (wisdom).” Why is that so? If you think about the benefits of wisdom and the cost of folly, it all makes sense. Read the rest of this entry »

Sticky Date Pudding

blog sticky date puddingI had my first taste of kangaroo and sticky date pudding several years back at Eight Mile Creek, a now defunct, Australian restaurant in NYC. No vegan lives here and I enjoyed the kangaroo, but I loved the sticky date pudding. This recipe is the closest version I could find to Eight Mile Creek’s and it did not disappoint. If Jesus was on Twitter

A viewpoint to be heeded!

If Jesus was on Twitter
I bet he’d have millions who would follow
Although most of what He said
Would be too much for the masses to swallow

His hashtag would be #truth
Because that’s all He knows how to speak
He would talk about radical love
And how we’re to stand up for the weak

I doubt he would post the video
Of that time when He walked on water
Instead He might implore us
To be better examples to our sons and daughters

He wouldn’t quote the religious
Instead, He would tell us about His story
How He sacrificed His life
So we could trade our filthy rags for glory

He might even get a retweet
Although many would not understand
It’s not about us and what we want
It’s about the scars in His nail-pierced hands

If Jesus was on Twitter
I’m sure we would give him…
